Well I know how it is to have both good and bad days. Some days you wake up feeling the very heavens are on your side and a terrific feeling envelopes you and makes the whole day flow smoothly, however some days you just feel like shit and want to climb back into bed, get under the covers and go to sleep. So here are a few tips to start your day and make sure you carry it through the rest of it.
1) The moment you wake up, before anything else say a quick prayer. You don't have to get into elaborate Latin incantations or recite the litany. That stuff is overrated. Just say a simple thank you for a fresh start on a new day and ask for strenght to get through the day.
2) Have an excellent breakfast. You have no clue how many days are ruined just because we don't have that tummy full of a good nutritious breakfast to help us power through our day. Remember : food=energy and energy=work
3) Listen to some music. There is nothing like some really good music to set us in that positive attitude required to tackle most day to day problems. Try and keep the song selection cheerful and upbeat. Something that lifts your soul, gives it a good shake and dances around with it. And sing along! Shout out, hum, whatever as long as it pumps you up:-) Owh and make sure you choose something that could last you the entire day; playing in your head.
4) Have the right kind of attitude. If we go out thinking the day is going to be shit then trust me it will be; not because of situations but because you just programmed your mind to make everything seem bad even if it's not. The day is half wasted the moment you think it is. So crank up that optimism in high gear and watch how it manages to sail you through the day.
5) SMILE!! A smile can be one of the most powerful things on the planet if used properly and regularly enough. Not only can it light up, impress, disarm, comfort, accept, encourage, motivate, reconcile, favour, redeem and forgive people but its also really contagious! So if you smile, the world will smile with you;-)
6) Try to make daily goals, something to look forward to during the day. If you can schedule everything right you can exert atleast a little bit control over your day. Think to yourself 'I shall do this today' and work your ass of to complete that. It give you a sense of acheivement at the end of the day and will motivate you to take on more tasks. Fruitfulness of days->level up!
7) Try to find happiness in the small things. Sometimes it's just the small things in life that are enough to light up our entire day. Notice and cherish those things. They are all around you but sometimes we are so caught up in our own overthought mess we fail to see the amazing happen around us every day. It doesn't have to be something huge, just those little things, those sparks that light the fire. It could be that pretty girl that smiled at you in the bus, or maybe your favorite song playing when you enter the supermarket, or a sudden drizzle of rain leaving everything fresh and new, the barista throwing in an extra scone when you order something at your local coffee place, a 10 buck note you found on the street, a few warm laughs with some close friends, a new amazing watering hole you found, a compliment on your attire or the way you look..Just about anything really. Life's full of these things, we just got to see them :)
So that sums up my very counsellor-ish post. But its something I've learnt and realized..maybe the hard way but I've learnt it nonetheless:-)
